Spring
- Inspect the roof for any potential issues caused by the months of cold weather during the winter.
- Fit bird cages to any chimney pots so that birds can’t nest in them caused you to get blockages in open fires (if applicable).
- Using a ladder clean out as much loose debris including leaves that will have gathered in to the guttering over the winter months. This is very important as the guttering needs to take away water from the house.
- Clean windows inside and out, within the openings to ensure fluid movement is maintained. This will prevent sticking of the windows.
- Check your exterior paintwork and patch up flaking areas. You may want to look to arrange any decorating works for the summer.
Summer
- Visually inspect and clean patios and flags using a soft brush. Do not use a power washer as this could cause fading.
- During the warmer months following the cold, the home will shrink and move naturally. This expansion and contraction will more than likely leave small cracks in paintwork - this is the time to fill these.
- Prune any large trees or shrubs that are close to your home. You do not want any of these falling on to your property.
- It is your duty to get your boiler serviced. This is a good time as heating engineers are less busy.
- Take a look at the seals around your baths and sinks to make sure there aren’t leaks. Reapply if needed.
Autumn
- Bleed any radiators throughout the home to make sure they are prepared for winter.
- Once the leaves have dropped following summer, clear away pathway gutters and drainage holes.
- Clear leaves and debris that has gathered around your external walls, this is important to prevent any risk of damp occurring.
- As the nights draw in make sure any security lights are working and outbuildings and sheds are locked.

- TakeKeep an eye on your roof for any loose tiles during windy weather and be able to take action if necessary.
